Born in 1982 in Kyiv, Ukraine.
Dmytro Kupriyan is an artist that work with medium of photography. At the start he work on the topic of tortures and for three years had been doing a project about tortures in ukrainian police (project “TORTURED”, 2013) then he shift to topic of violence in wide meaning of it making a projects about war in Ukraine (projects “Fragments of War” 2016, “Banality of Agression” 2017 and “WHEN THE WAR IS OVER” 2017). In his projects he try to show that the only way to solve the problem and misunderstanding in societies is the dialog in all meaning of it: verbal, subverbal, physical, etc.
Also he is interesting in ukrainian historical shipping and sailing on the chaika (which is a name of an old national Ukrainian boat) SPAS, built in 2007 by a group of national enthusiasts and goes sailing over Black Sea and Dnypro river and made a set of photographs about that.
At the begining of Ukrainian-Russia conflict in Donbass in 2014 he spent a year in Army as officer and now he serve for the second time during Full Scale Invasion of russia in Ukraine and make a documentary and art projects about it.
His photo are at private collections, The Korsaks’ Museum of Modern Ukrainian Art, The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War, Territory of Terror Museum.
